Course Objectives
This course aims to provide learners with the attitude, skills and knowledge required to conduct effective security screening of person and bag within their area(s) of operation.
The Competency Unit would be appropriate for people with job titles such as: Security Supervisor, Senior Security Officer, Security Officer, Protection Supervisor, Protection Officer, Security Screening Officer
Course Outcome
On completion of this module, learners shall be able to have the knowledge & application skills to perform the following:
- Prepare security screening duty
- Prepare person for security screening
- Perform screening of person with walk-through and hand-held metal detectors
- Conduct manual screening (pat-down) of person
- Conduct manual bag search
- Conclude security screening activities
Pre-requisite Skills & Knowledge
Candidates who signed up for this course MUST meet the following pre-requisites:
- Listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills WSQ (ES WSQ) Level 4
- Read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills WSQ (ES WSQ) Level 4
- Manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills WSQ (ES WSQ) Level 4
- Ability to perceive colour difference on metal detector’s visual alarm
